Kum Yew Siew

BSc (Hons) Psych; Doctoral Candidate (Clinical Psych)

Kum Yew holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology from James Cook University. He is due to complete his Doctoral in Clinical Psychology this year. Kum Yew is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, mindfulness intervention, psychometric assessment, as well as the psychological treatment of anxiety, depression and alcohol, drug, gambling and sexual addiction.

Kum Yew joined Promises Healthcare in 2010. Since 2009, he has been providing psychotherapy to persons with alcohol, drug, gambling, shoplifting, pornography and sex addiction. Prior to joining Promises Healthcare, he had held the position of Psychologist at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Shan You Counselling Centre, providing both individual and group interventions to people with various psychological problems, such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and insomnia.

Kum Yew adopts a person-centered integrative approach to help clients cope with and surmount the psychological and emotional challenges of daily life. He sees such challenges as opportunities for learning and growing, and for bringing more meaning and fulfillment into one's life. He believes in every person's innate capacity to grow and heal when facing life's reality with that which is accessible to all of us at anytime – Hope.
